To preserve peace and order throughout the protest, the police have deployed about 100 officers in each zone.

According to police authorities, the Punjab Police has sent a sizable police force to Amritsar in response to calls for a bandh and demonstrations by the local SC and Christian communities over the Manipur issue in order to maintain a calm and stable environment.
To preserve peace and order throughout the protest, the police have deployed about 100 officers in each zone.
Amristar SP Harjit Singh said that “We will ensure that no violence occurs during this protest”

The call for a bandh follows recent events in Manipur, where tensions have been high and the state has been on fire for the past three months due to ethnic clashes between the Meities and Kukis after the Manipur High Court urged the state government to take the Meiteis into consideration for inclusion on the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs).
