“Every single player stood united and contributed to the win. All of us stuck together while eating or during team meetings,” he added.

The Indian team made history by being the first team to win the Thomas Cup since its creation in 1949. In the final, India defeated 14-time champions Indonesia in a hard-fought but decisive victory.

“It usually takes a day to understand major wins and this will take some time to sync in. This is not an individual win, but a team victory. We told each other that we have to do well as a team and back each other,” said Kidambi Srikanth in an exclusive interview with NewsX.

“Every single player stood united and contributed to the win. All of us stuck together while eating or during team meetings,” he added.

“This win belongs to 1.3 billion Indians. I would like to thank them all as they have been really supportive,” Srikanth said.

Thanking the Union sports minister for recognition, Srikanth said that the their next target it Commonwealth Games and World Championship.

“Contributions of Prakash Sir and Gopi Sir are massive. It feels nice to be called GOAT,” Srikanth added.

“Prime Minister followed all our gamed and it is a great feeling to speak to him,” he said, adding that, “this is a new era and a lot of kids will be inspired. This should do what 83 did to cricket.”
