The Centre’s air quality panel issued more restrictions on Sunday due to the worsening air pollution in Delhi. The panel instructed the Delhi-NCR government to impose restrictions, such as a halt on building and demolition work.
As part of stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), Delhi has been subject to a new set of limitations. To stop the air quality from getting any worse, the GRAP Sub-Committee resolved to adopt GRAP Stage III over the whole NCR. In addition to the restrictive measures stated in GRAP Stages I and II, the new constraints.
The limits do not apply to crucial projects related to the nation’s security, defence, railroads, and metro rail, among other things.
An AQI of 201 to 300 is regarded as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 as “severe.” At 4 pm, the air quality index (AQI) for Delhi was 407 over the previous 24 hours.
On Sunday, the Sub-Committee for Operationalization of the Revised GRAP met to discuss Delhi’s air quality. The panel noted that throughout the previous 24 hours, the air quality had continued to deteriorate.
The subcommittee “determined that all steps as planned under Stage III of the GRAP be executed by all the agencies concerned with immediate effect in the NCR in order to prevent further worsening of the air quality,” the panel stated.
