At 8 am on Monday, the second and final phases of voting for the Gujarat Assembly elections began in 93 seats spread over 14 districts in the state’s central and northern regions. In these Assembly segments spanning over Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, and other regions, a total of 833 candidates from 61 political parties are running for office, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The second phase campaign concluded on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. According to BJP head CR Patil, the party would smash all previous records in the Assembly elections in order to stay in power.
On the other side, the Gujarat Congress’ in-charge Raghu Sharma asserted that the party will form the next government based on the “trend” of the first round of voting on December 1.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked everyone who is voting in the Gujarat elections’ second phase as well as the by-elections taking place around the nation to turn out in huge numbers.
The Prime Minister tweeted early on Monday, “I will be casting my vote in Ahmedabad around 9 am.”
For his Monday vote, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew into Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. An official announced that the Prime Minister will cast his ballot on Monday morning at a polling location set up at a high school in Ahmedabad’s Ranip neighbourhood. Amit Shah, a member of the BJP and the union home minister, will cast his ballot at a municipal sub-zonal office in the Naranpura neighbourhood of the city.
