Coldplay was joined by Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, lead vocalist of Okean Elzy, a prominent rock band from Ukraine, for their latest Music Of The Spheres World Tour show in the Belgian city of Brussels.

Vakarchuk, who joined the Ukrainian military following the Russian invasion in February, is currently on a world tour with his band to raise donations for the country’s war effort.

On August 9, Vakarchuk joined Coldplay on stage and sang Okean Elzy’s song Obiymy (Embrace), which has become an anti-war hymn.

Vakarchuk, commonly known as Slava, thanked Coldplay for inviting him before beginning the song. “These are difficult times for my country.” We are fighting a war. I want you to know that we are fighting for more than just Ukraine. “We are fighting for global peace, liberty, and democracy,” he stated. As the audience erupted in cheers, Vakarchuk declared, “We will win this war together, and then we will establish a new, free, and peaceful world.”
