With an eye on China, US President Joe Biden will be on a trip to Asia this week. On his six-day day trip to Asia, Biden would be visiting South Korea and Japan in a bid to build rapport with the two nations.

The highlight of his Asian trip would be his meeting South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Some of the issues that can be discussed in the bilateral meetings include trade, global supply chain, North Korea’s nuclear program and fight against Covid-19.

In Japan, he would also be meeting Quad leaders from member countries- Australia, India and Japan.

Briefing on the trip, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that they think this trip is going to put on display President Biden’s Indo Pacific strategy and then it will show in living colour that US can at once lead the free world in responding to Russia’s war in Ukraine and chart a course for effective, principled American leadership and engagement in a region that will define the future of 21st century.
