India will take over the leadership of G-20 grouping, the main platform for international economic cooperation today.
100 monuments, including UNESCO world heritage sites, with the G-20 emblem will be lighted, ranging from Srinagar’s Shankaracharya temple to Delhi’s Red Fort to Thanjavur’s Great Living Chola temple from December 1 to 7. These 100 sites include Humayun’s Tomb and Purana Quila in Delhi, Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat, Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, and Sher Shah Suri’s Tomb in Bihar.
During this year’s presidency, India will hold 200 meetings in over 50 places around the country in 32 different sectors.
India’s objectives for next year’s Summit include the provision of inexpensive technology for sustainable environmental development, with a focus on the country’s digital transformation.
Following the Asian financial crisis in 1999, G-20 was established as a platform for Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to address global economic and financial concerns.
Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States composes the Group of Twenty (G-20), as does the European Union. G-20 members account for around 85% of global GDP, more than 75% of global commerce, and almost two-thirds of worldwide population.
The group’s priority is policy coordination among its members in order to achieve global economic stability and sustainable growth; to support financial laws that decrease risks and avoid future financial crises; and to establish a new international financial architecture.
According to a press announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs, India will host the G-20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, 2023.
According to insiders, the meetings will take place in less travelled sections of the nation in really exotic locales in India.
