J-K: Security forces foil infiltration bid, kill two terrorists

The security forces were aware of terrorist infiltration efforts in Macchal Sector in the Kupwara area, according to the Ministry of Defence. The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a coordinated operation acting on the intelligence. On Sunday morning, the joint force ambushed and attacked the terrorists who were crossing the LoC. The security personnel and militants began exchanging gunfire.
Two terrorists were then neutralised, and their weapons and ammo were found.

The Ministry of Defence issued a statement. It stated the troops were placed on high alert. A joint JKP and Army ambush were set up on likely infiltration routes based on specific intelligence inputs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other intelligence agencies about a possible infiltration attempt in the Macchal Sector.

“On September 25, at about 7.30 am, in the unfavorable weather, vigilant forces saw two armed infiltrators cross the LoC near Tekri Nar, Macchal. The terrorists were confronted by the forces. Following a gunfight, both terrorists were neutralised “the statement said.

Two AK-47s, six magazines, 53 bullets, four hand grenades, two handguns, two pistol magazines, and 35 rounds for pistols were retrieved by the forces.
The security officers also recovered Pakistani rupees.
