Jabalpur: PM Unveils Rs 12,000 Cr Projects & Lays Foundation Stone for Rani Durgavati Memorial

Rani Durgavati, a fearless warrior queen, ruled Gondwana in the mid-16th century and fought valiantly for freedom against the Mughals.

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of the ‘Veerangana Rani Durgavati Smarak aur Udyaan’ and unveiled projects worth over Rs 12,000 crore in various sectors such as road, rail, energy, housing, and drinking water in Jabalpur.

The ‘Veerangana Rani Durgavati Smarak aur Udyaan,’ to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore, will span approximately 21 acres and feature a 52-foot-high bronze statue of Rani Durgavati. The site will house a museum showcasing the history of the Gondwana region, highlighting the queen’s valour and courage. It will also spotlight the cuisine, art, culture and lifestyle of the Gond and other tribal communities, with multiple parks and gardens, including medicinal plants, cactus, and rock gardens.

During the event, PM Modi virtually inaugurated the Light House Project in Indore, costing about Rs 128 crore, and benefiting over 1000 beneficiary families. It employs innovative technology to construct quality homes with basic facilities in reduced construction time.

Additionally, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for multiple Jal Jeevan Mission projects worth over Rs 2350 crore and dedicated the Jal Jeevan Mission project in Seoni district, valued at over Rs 100 crore, to the nation. These initiatives will benefit approximately 1,575 villages in Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi also inaugurated road infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 4800 crore, including the upgrading of highways and roads across several districts. Rail projects worth over Rs 1850 crore, including rail line doubling, were dedicated to the nation. These initiatives aim to enhance trade and tourism in Madhya Pradesh.

Moreover, PM Modi marked the inauguration of the Vijaipur-Auraiya-Phulpur Pipeline Project, a 352 km-long pipeline costing more than Rs 1750 crore, and laid the foundation stone of the Nagpur-Jabalpur section of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline Project, expected to cost more than Rs 1100 crore. These gas pipeline projects will provide clean and affordable natural gas to industries and homes, contributing to reduced environmental emissions.

Madhya Pradesh is one of five states set to hold elections later this year.
