In the presence of Lt. General Harpal Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on Tuesday handed the Indian Army with the newest anti-personnel mine, the Nipun and Futuristic Infantry Soldier as a System (F-INSAS). Both the systems have been manufactured indigenously by Indian firms.

The Defence Minister also handed over the Made in India infantry combat vehicles to the troops deployed in the forward areas.

An indigenously made drone system has also been given to the Indian Army so that its soldiers can monitor enemy forces in the LAC’s forward sections.
Future Infantry Soldier As A System is referred to as F-INSAS. It is an infantry modernization initiative designed to improve the soldier’s operational capacity. As part of this effort, soldiers will be equipped with modern systems which will be lightweight, all-weather-all-terrain, economical and would require low maintenance.

An AK-203 assault rifle is part of the F-INSAS system’s full arsenal. The AK-203 is a 300 meter-range, gas-operated, magazine-fed, select fire assault rifle of Russian origin.

At an Indian-Russian joint venture, the F-INSAS is expected to be produced in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

Army’s F-INSAS soldier briefed Rajnath Singh on his new weapon systems and tools, including the AK-203 assault rifle, at the ceremony today.
According to media report, the Indian private sector will supply the force with almost 7 lakh of these anti-personnel Nipun mines.

Indian Army showcased capability of the Landing Craft Assault deployed in Pangong lake by the force along the LAC with China to Rajnath Singh on Tuesday.
