An official said that the Mumbai Police recorded Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s statement in a case filed against him for posting nude photographs of himself on social media on Monday.
Last month, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Ranveer Singh at Mumbai’s Chembur police station on the basis of a complaint filed by an officer of a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The police then served him with a summons to join the investigation.

According to the official, the actor appeared before the investigating officer around 7 a.m. on Monday and his statement was recorded.

According to the official, Ranveer Singh left the police station around 9.30 a.m. and will be called again if necessary.

The actor “hurt the sentiments of women in general and insulted their modesty through his photographs,” according to the complainant. According to an official, the police had registered a FIR against Singh based on the complaint under various Indian Penal Code Sections such as 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Ranveer Singh, a renowned actor, is best known for his roles in films such as “Bajirao Mastani,” “Padmaavat,” and “Gully Boy.”
