Heavy Rain In Delhi NCR, LIVE: IMD Issues Red Alert, Waterlogging Continues
Delhi is bracing for a classic monsoon morning as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a red alert for the entire city and eastern parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). Over the next couple of hours, “Intense to very intense spells of rain” are expected across several areas of Delhi-NCR. The forecast also includes thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert remains in effect for other regions, where light to moderate rainfall is likely. Earlier, an orange alert was in place for Delhi until 9:30 am on Tuesday. The IMD has also outlined the potential impacts of the weather, including waterlogging, underpass closures, reduced visibility, and traffic congestion. Residents are advised to follow traffic guidelines and avoid unnecessary travel.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms battered parts of Delhi on Tuesday morning, causing widespread waterlogging in several key areas. Connaught Place (CP), the city’s commercial hub, was among the worst affected, recording over 100.2 mm of rainfall in just two hours.
