When the military drama Shershaah, which took home the top prize at the 67th Filmfare Awards, was announced as the winner, director Karan Johar wrote a letter of gratitude to actor Sidharth Malhotra and the entire cast. The director referred to it as Sidharth’s triumph and praised him for giving him his passion project.
“Will always be forever grateful to @sidmalhotra for giving #shershaah to me,” Karan posted with the movie’s poster. A movie that he was so fervently committed to! He had a magnificent performance in a movie! So wonderfully! Regards, Sid. The pinnacle of our respective careers will always be this!
The director went on to say that it was an “honour and a privilege” for him and his co-star Apoorva Mehta to produce the movie, which is based on the “courageous” life of Captain Vikram Batra, who fought valiantly until the end of the 1999 Kargil War.
“We appreciate the Indian Army and the Batra family for their tremendous love and support,” Karan wrote in a letter to everyone who contributed to the making of Shershaah. VISHNUVARDHAN, a filmmaker of the highest calibre, for his masterful storytelling and meticulous execution. Thank you for supporting us throughout the road! On August 12, 2021, Vishnu Varadhan’s film Shershaah was made available on Amazon Prime Video. The book follows the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who gave his life in the Kargil War of 1999. Along with the conflict, Shershaah focuses on Vikram Batra’s personal journey, particularly his bond with Kiara Advani’s character Dimple Cheema, who plays his fiancee. Sidharth’s performance in the movie was acclaimed as his best of his career.
