Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’ opened in theatres on March 1 and received rave reviews from all corners. The film also did decent business at the box office given its low budget. On Wednesday, March 13, Salman Khan took to X to laud the film. He praised Kiran for doing a ‘superb job’ and also expressed a desire to work with her.

“Just saw Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies. Wah wah Kiran. I really enjoyed it n so did my father. Congrats on your debut as a director, superb job. Kab kaam karogi mere saath ?, (sic)” he posted.

He, however, accidentally called  ‘Laapataa Ladies’ her first film. This did not go down well with fans. Many of them pointed on his error.

Kiran made her debut as a director with ‘Dhobi Ghat’ (2010), which grossed nearly Rs 25 crore globally on a budget of Rs 5 crore. It featured Aamir Khan in a key role. ‘Laapataa Ladies’, her second directorial venture, comes nearly 14 years after ‘Ghobi Ghat’.

It is set in 2001 and centres on two young brides who get separated during a train journey. The film stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Ravi Kishan. Salman is set to team up with AR Murugadoss for a mass entertainer slated to release on Eid 2025.
