Samantha Ruth Prabhu Faces Heat From A Doctor For Misleading Her '33 Million Followers' Over Detoxing The Liver

The doctor, who specializes in liver diseases, expressed frustration with what he perceived as the actress’ lack of scientific understanding

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s health podcast, Take 20, has faced criticism for allegedly disseminating misinformation to her followers. An individual identified as The Liver Doc (Cyriac Abby Philips) took issue with the podcast’s discussion on ‘detoxing the liver,’ accusing Prabhu and her guest of spreading ignorance to millions of listeners.

The doctor, who specializes in liver diseases, expressed frustration with what he perceived as the duo’s lack of scientific understanding, particularly pointing out the assertion that dandelion is the best herb for liver health as false.

On Twitter, the doctor wrote, “This is Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a film star, misleading and misinforming over 33 million followers on “detoxing the liver.” Its just two science illiterates sharing their ignorance. The Wellness Coach guy is not even a real medical person and would probably have no idea about functions of the liver.”

The Liver Doc also claimed, “He says, the best herb to improve liver health is Dandelion. I am a liver doctor, a trained and registered hepatologist diagnosing and treating liver disease patients since one decade and this is complete and utter BS.” He was also irked when Samantha’s fans came to her defence, writing, “I was expecting Ms. Samantha to take note, but guess I am stuck with team C, her health illiterate fans who have the power to ‘Google Search’ but not actually read and understand anything they have linked.

Prabhu, who has been on hiatus from acting due to her diagnosis of myositis, a type of autoimmune disease, was last seen in the 2023 films “Shaakunthalam” alongside Dev Mohan and “Kushi” with Vijay Deverakonda.

She recently filmed the Indian edition of the web series “Citadel,” co-starring Varun Dhawan, with the US edition featuring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. While she was initially set to star in Philip John’s “Chennai Story,” based on the book “The Arrangements of Love,” she was replaced by Shruti Haasan.
