SonyLIV, the streaming behemoth, revealed its new web series named ‘The Madras Murder’ on Monday, which is based on a murder case in 1940s British India.

According to a release, the show will reveal secret intrigues and mysteries behind the death of a famed yellow journalist renowned for publishing scandalous stories about movie stars, as well as the participation of Tamil cinema’s first celebrity in the murder case. Sooriyaprathap S will write and direct this particular project. The series’ showrunner will be acclaimed director AL Vijay. IB Karthikeyan will produce the programme under the umbrella of Big Print Pictures.

Excited about the project, AL Vijay said, “It feels great to be associated with the most challenging prestigious project, “The Madras Murder” based on a real incident that happened in the Madras Presidency. To present a tremendous and magnificent experience for the viewers, our entire team will put up the optimum effort in recreating the pre-independence era on the digital screen.”
