Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, questioned on Thursday whether the chief ministers of states where the BJP is in power are complicit in crimes like rape. In his remark, he refuted a claim made by Union minister Giriraj Singh that the Begusarai shooting event was the fault of the Nitish Kumar Grand Alliance administration.
“Is their chief minister responsible for a crime if it occurs in BJP-ruled states? Is their CM the perpetrator if there is a rape taking place?” the news agency cited Yadav as saying.
Singh recently said that anytime a “Mahagathbandhan” (grand coalition) administration is established in Bihar, the state’s peace and order suffer. After the Janata Dal (United) split from the BJP, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) rekindled their alliance to establish the new Bihar government last month.
Two individuals on bikes opened fire at 10 different locations during the shootings in Begusarai on Tuesday night.
According to police, the first occurrence happened inside the boundaries of Teghra Police Station at about 6 o’clock. The gunmen, according to police, were travelling from the neighbouring Samastipur district to Begusarai on National Highway-28. Barauni Thermal Chowk, Barauni, Teghra, Bachwara, and Rajendra Bridge all saw more gunfire.
Within 30 kilometres of one another, 10 gunshots were all heard. In response to the anger, seven police officers were suspended on Wednesday. Although a patrolling party was on the streets, according to Jitendra Singh Gangwar, assistant director general of police in Bihar, they either neglected to stop the criminals or failed to do the essential inspections.
Yadav’s remarks come in the midst of a huge controversy over the rape and murder of two young Dalit girls in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
