Facing the heat over the excise duty, Manish Sisodia, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister issued an explosive tweet on Monday, claiming that he received a message from the BJP to vertically split the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and join forces with them to get all CBI and Enforcement Directorate cases against him closed. “I have got a communication from the BJP – Break the AAP and join BJP, will have all CBI, ED charges solved,” Sisodia tweeted, hours after saying that he was the subject of a Look Out Circular (LOC).

‘I AM A RAJPUT, AND I WILL NOT BOW DOWN’
Furthermore, he dared the BJP to do “anything they want,” emphasising that all charges against him are untrue. “My response to the BJP is that I am a Rajput, a descendent of Maharana Pratap.” I shall get my head severed, but I will not submit to the wicked conspirators. All of the charges filed against me are untrue. “Do anything you want,” he said on Twitter.

HAS SISODIA EATEN ‘BHANG’?
BJP leader Parvesh Verma responded angrily to Sisodia’s claim, saying, “Manish Sisodia should take ‘pranayama’ every morning.” Is he a bhang (cannabis) user? He should reveal the identity of the individual who approached him about joining the BJP. The BJP would not accept him even if he rubs his nose on the floor.”

MANISH SISODIA’S EXCISE POLICY CASE

The CBI claims in its FIR on suspected corruption in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy 2021-22 that a liquor merchant paid Rs 1 crore to a business run by an acquaintance of Manish Sisodia.
According to the agency, Sisodia and other accused public workers advocated and made steps regarding the excise policy 2021-22 without the consent of competent authorities with the “intention of extending unfair favours to the licencees post tender.”
The CBI listed 15 persons in a FIR filed on August 17 under IPC sections pertaining to criminal conspiracy and Prevention of Corruption Act provisions.

In the FIR, the CBI also listed two firms.
The CBI conducted its searches on Friday as a result of Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena’s recommendation that the agency looks into the alleged procedural errors and rule breaches in the implementation of the policy that went into force on November 17 of last year.

In July, after Saxena suggested the investigation, the Delhi government rescinded the excise policy.
