CBI Launches Preliminary Enquiry into Alleged Irregularities in Delhi CM Kejriwal's Residence Construction

BJP has raised concerns about the allocation of Rs 45 crore for the renovation of Kejriwal’s official residence in the Civil Lines area of Mumbai.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a preliminary enquiry to investigate allegations of irregularities in the construction and renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, according to CBI sources.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns, claiming that approximately Rs 45 crore was allocated for the “renovation” of Kejriwal’s official residence, located at 6, Flagstaff Road in the Civil Lines area of the city.

In response, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the BJP’s involvement in the CBI’s actions. The AAP issued a statement asserting, “The BJP is making relentless efforts to undermine the Aam Aadmi Party. Presently, only AAP is campaigning based on its accomplishments in the fields of healthcare and education. However, the BJP seems unwilling to provide quality education and healthcare services to the underprivileged, which contradicts its religion and caste-based politics.”

The AAP further stated, “This is why they incarcerated the country’s top Education Minister, Manish Sisodia, and the best Health Minister, Satyendra Jain. Now, all central agencies have been mobilized against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Nevertheless, CM Kejriwal enjoys the blessings and support of Delhi’s two crore citizens. So far, over 50 cases have been registered against him by the central government, with no outcome in any of them. The same fate awaits this investigation.”

The AAP criticized the BJP’s actions, saying, “Regardless of how many investigations the BJP initiates against CM Kejriwal, he will continue advocating for the common people. He is prepared to pay any price to elevate the country to the status of the world’s leading nation.”

Earlier this year, the Directorate of Vigilance issued show-cause notices to officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) in relation to alleged expenditures on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

In April, a large demonstration was staged by hundreds of BJP leaders and workers against Kejriwal. BJP leader Harish Khurana questioned the appropriateness of a person who claims to be “Kattar Imaandar” (staunchly honest) spending Rs 45 crore on renovating an official residence, noting that Kejriwal reportedly spent Rs 11 crore on his wardrobe, leading to understandable inquiries.
