The officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation have arrived at Deputy Excise Commissioner Anand Tiwari’s residence in the national capital.

In connection with the Excise Policy case, the CBI conducted a raid on Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, earlier same day. In connection with the excise policy case, the CBI reportedly conducted 21 raids in Delhi-NCR, including Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, and the offices of Arava Gopi Krishna, who served as the Delhi Excise Commissioner.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, endorsed Sisodia and pledged their full support to the investigations.

In the middle of the deadly Delta Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, the excise policy was approved by the Delhi Cabinet, which is led by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

However, according to the Delhi government, the policy was formulated to ensure the generation of optimum revenue ensure the generation of optimum revenue liquor or non-duty paid liquor in Delhi, eliminate the sale of spurious liquor or non-duty paid liquor in Delhi besides improving user experience.
