Last Monday (June 27, 2022), a 13-year-old Madarsa student in Mangalore stated that he had been beaten up by members of another group and that his kurta had been torn. The same child has since withdrawn the statement he made when being questioned by authorities. On Thursday, June 30, 2022, the madarsa student who purported to be a victim admitted to fabricating a story since he wasn’t paying enough attention at home and school.
Mangalore Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar reportedly said that the child tore his shirt with a pen to give the appearance that he had been abused.
Quick action was taken after hearing about the boy’s attack to prevent any social disturbance. The police were surprised when they compared the boy’s account to the CCTV footage and other evidence found throughout the investigation. On Thursday, the child was then summoned back in for more questioning. The young man mentioned that he struggles in school and comes from a low-income family. He is not getting the respect he wanted as a result.
The cops informed his parents and local authorities of the situation after the facts came to light. In front of the Child Welfare Committee and medical professionals, police will now re-record his statement. It is important to note that, as the youngster reported, tensions rose in Suratkal and its neighbouring areas as a result of the occurrence.
The child is a class 8 student, a senior police official from Suratkal police station told the Hindustan Times. He had just left Chakraborty Ground on the day of the tragedy. He claimed that two people shoved him when they came up from behind him on the way back. They tore his garments before leaving the scene (charges have now been proven erroneous).
