In its ongoing investigation into the death of 32-year-old BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru, the NIA has been conducting raids and investigating the homes of suspects in the Puttur and Sullia districts Dakshina Kannada district in Mangaluru. The agency’s action occurred about a month after C.A. Abdul Kabeer of Jattipalla House, Sullia, was detained by the Dakshina Kannada Police in August on suspicion of plotting Nettaru’s murder.

On July 26, three individuals entered his chicken restaurant off the Puttur-Sullia Road at Bellare in Mangaluru and hacked Nettaru to death.

Police detained Saddam, 32, and Haris, 42, both residents of Pallimajalu in Bellare, on August 2.

Earlier on July 28 police detained Bellare residents Shafiq, 27, and Zakir, 29, both of Savanoor.

These four individuals were allegedly in communication with the attackers.

Abid of Sullia, age 22, and Naufal of Bellare, age 28, who were allegedly members of the planning and reconnaissance squad, were taken into custody by the police on August 7.

Union Home Ministry ordered the transfer of the case to the NIA on August 3 in response to a request from the state administration.
