Rahul Gandhi Pays Tribute to Fmr PM Vajpayee

At the former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader’s memorial, Sadaiv Atal, in the nation’s capital, on Monday, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi paid respect to him.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Monday at his memorial Sadaiv Atal in New Delhi.

On Monday, Congress MPs continued their tradition of honouring previous leaders, including Indira Gandhi at Shakti Sthal, Rajiv Gandhi’s father at Veer Bhumi, and Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat. The former president of the Congress also paid respects to Mahatama Gandhi at Rajghat during the day.

Rahul Gandhi paid a visit to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tomb a day after the former’s 98th birthday was commemorated.

Earlier on Sunday, at the former prime minister’s monument Sadaiv Atal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, President Droupadi Murmu, and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar presented floral tributes in honour of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary.

Several dignitaries, including Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, paid respect to the late Prime Minister.

From May 16 1996 to June 1 1996 and again from March 19 to May 22, 2004, Vajpayee was India’s prime minister. In the administration of Prime Minister Moraji Desai, he also served as India’s Minister of External Affairs from 1977 to 1979. On August 16, 2018, he passed away at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi.

After taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that December 25 will be observed as Good Governance Day each year in honour of the former leader and winner of the Bharat Ratna award.
