IND VS ENG: Yashasvi Jaiswal Beats Virat Kohli's Record As He Becomes The Top-Scorer In A Single Test Series

In the five-match series against England, Jaiswal became the top scorer by crossing the 700-run mark. The feat allowed him to surpass India captain Virat Kohli’s record for most runs on home soil in tests against England, which stands at 655

Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently the best batsman in Test cricket and is attracting a lot of attention. The left-handed batsman made his debut in July last year and made an immediate impact, scoring five figures, including two centuries.

In the five-match series against England, Jaiswal became the top scorer by crossing the 700-run mark. The feat allowed him to surpass India captain Virat Kohli’s record for most runs on home soil in tests against England, which stands at 655.

Also, Jaiswal became the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to score more than 700 runs in a single Test. Gavaskar achieved this feat twice against the West Indies, scoring 774 (1971/72) and 732 (1978-79). The dynamic opener also has a chance to become the all-time leading scorer against Gavaskar with one game in the series.

The batting duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took 9 wickets and dismissed England for 218 after wreaking havoc in Stumping. Jaiswal showed his skills by hitting a quick 57 off 58 balls before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. In achieving this target, Jaiswal also became the third fastest opener to reach 1000 Test runs (16 innings).
