Gujarat Introduces Schemes Worth Rs 1,650 Crore for Students In Classes 9 to 12

These schemes align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and fostering interest in science education. The government emphasizes that these initiatives will contribute to the empowerment of women and youth in Gujarat through educational support.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has introduced two schemes on Saturday, allocating Rs 1,650 crore in the state budget to provide financial assistance to students in Classes 9 to 12.

The first scheme, named ‘Namo Lakshmi Yojana,’ is designed to grant Rs 50,000 to girls enrolled in Classes 9 to 12 over a four-year period. The second initiative, ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana,’ offers Rs 25,000 to students in the science stream in Classes 11 and 12, irrespective of gender.

These schemes align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and fostering interest in science education. The government emphasizes that these initiatives will contribute to the empowerment of women and youth in Gujarat through educational support.

The launch event took place at Gyanda High School in Ahmedabad, with the participation of approximately 35,000 students and educators attending virtually. Under the ‘Namo Lakshmi Yojana,’ girls will receive Rs 500 per month for ten months each year, along with an additional Rs 10,000 upon successfully passing the Class 10 board exam.

For students in Classes 11 and 12, the ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana’ will provide Rs 750 per month for ten months each year, coupled with an additional Rs 15,000 after passing the Class 12 board exam. Notably, girls pursuing science in Classes 11 and 12 will benefit from both schemes, regardless of their family income.
