On March 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects totaling ₹7,200 crore in the Arambagh area of Hooghly district in West Bengal. These projects encompass various sectors including rail, ports, oil pipelines, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment, with the Prime Minister dedicating them to the nation.

However, PM Narendra Modi took a jibe on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the crime and harassments going on in the state.

Key pointers:

  • He said, “Bengal CM sits on protest to save those behind corruption”.

  • “Those who looted West Bengal have to return the loot”, adding further he said it is “Modi’s guarantee that loots will be forfeited”.

  • “Ruling TMC made ‘all efforts to save party leader Sheikh Shahjahan’ and that it was the BJP leader’s effort that led to the arrest of the TMC strongman.”

  • “TMC is blocking every scheme of the centre formulated for the welfare of the people of Bengal”, adding further the PM accused the TMC of being ‘anti-poor’.

  • ‘Har chot ka jawab vote se dena hai’. Today, the people of West Bengal are asking their CM ‘Didi’- is the vote of some people more important than atrocities against women in Sandeshkhali?…All the tall leaders of INDI alliance were silent on the Sandeshkhali incident. INDI alliance leaders were like the three monkeys of Gandhiji…Congress chief said- ‘Arey chhoddo, Bengal mein toh yeh sab chalta rheta hai’…” PM said.

  • PM Modi said TMC’s arrogance about having a particular vote bank will get shattered in the upcoming polls and that Muslim women will vote BJP in large numbers.
