On Sunday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan jointly inaugurated the Gurugram Marathon 2024. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from runners of diverse ages and abilities, infusing the city with energy and determination. Approximately 40,000 individuals are actively involved in the Gurugram Marathon 2024, aiming to complete distances ranging from 5km to a full 42.2km.

The initial phase of the marathon, structured into four stages, commenced at 4:30 am with the full marathon covering 42.2 km. Following this, the 21.1 km half marathon began at 6:30 am, succeeded by the third race of 10 km at 7:30 am, and concluding with a 5 km fun run. Addressing the participants during the marathon, Dhawan emphasized the significance of dedicating an hour daily to oneself, highlighting the importance of both physical and mental well-being.

 During his address at the event, Chief Minister Khattar underscored the significance of such gatherings in promoting physical fitness and fostering a sense of community. He expressed his vision for Gurugram to emerge as a leading hub for athletics and marathons, drawing inspiration from established events in other major cities. “We have also initiated a segment for the 42 km run. Additionally, participants have commenced the 21 km marathon at 6:30 am. Our marathon’s message is ‘Run for Zero Hunger,'” Khattar stated.

Meanwhile, star batsman Dhawan is gearing up for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In the previous edition of the tournament, the 38-year-old cricketer amassed 373 runs in 11 innings. He was designated as the captain among the players retained by Punjab Kings (PBKS) ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction in Dubai. (ANI)
