Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Sudarshan Setu, the country’s longest cable-stayed bridge connecting Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka.

As per an official announcement from the Devbhumi Dwarka administration, the bridge extends over a distance of 2.32 kilometers, incorporating a central double-span cable-stayed segment covering 900 meters, alongside a 2.45-kilometer-long access road. Built at a cost of Rs 979 crore, the bridge boasts a width of 27.20 meters, featuring footpaths measuring 2.50 meters in width on both sides.

District Collector GT Pandya informed PTI news agency that initially named the ‘Signature Bridge,’ the structure has now been renamed ‘Sudarshan Setu’ or Sudarshan Bridge.

Beyt Dwarka, situated close to Okha port at a distance of roughly 30 kilometers from Dwarka town, houses the esteemed Dwarkadhish temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. Presently, pilgrims visiting the temple at Beyt Dwarka are limited to daytime boat trips. Nevertheless, upon the bridge’s completion, authorities expect uninterrupted access around the clock.
