As the Quad summit kickstarts in Tokyo in fulcrum, NewsX has charted key priorities and an action plan to pave the way forward. The next priorities of Quad should be launching an independent probe into the origins of Covid-19, forming the Quad security council to counter China, giving Taiwan and South Asian nations membership in Quad and Quad SC, keeping a strict check on Sino-Pak nexus, reining in Pakistan for terrorism eminating from state and sharing on defence technology to fulfill self sufficiency in defence.
Others include investments in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, setting 6g research cooperation group to lead global norms, setting up collaboration groups on EV tech research & lithium, setting up investment summit for space startups from 4 nations, helping chart out roadmap & commit to international solar alliance, blockchain working group to help combat future research & limit misuse and finally investments and collaboration to bolster islands in South China sea.
The Quad leaders summit has kickstarted in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday. Since the inception of Quad grouping in 2019, this is the second in-person meeting of member countries’ heads. The summit was held virtually in the last two years due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The leaders in attendance include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and the newly elected Australian PM Antony Albanese.
