Twitter CEO Elon Musk has stated that he sacked the microblogging site’s deputy general counsel James Baker due to concerns about his participation in information suppression under prior management.
Musk tweeted on Tuesday, saying “In light of concerns about (James) Baker’s potential involvement in suppressing material critical to public discourse, he was removed from Twitter today.” Last week, writer Matt Taibbi and Musk collaborated on the book “Twitter Files.”
These papers mostly consisted of Twitter’s internal conversations revealing linkages with political players, with an emphasis on how the social network censored headlines about Hunter Biden’s laptop in the run-up to the 2020 US Presidential election.
According to the documents, the former Twitter administration took attempts to hide reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop before of the 2020 US Presidential Election.
Taibbi’s Twitter Files claims Twitter deputy general counsel Baker was involved in the debate about whether the laptop report fit under Twitter’s “hacked materials” policy.
