Sakthivel, a 35-year-old district secretary of the BJP’s OBC wing, was stabbed to death in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai on Thursday morning. He was assaulted by gang of unknown men who relentlessly chased and brutally attacked him near the Vandiyur toll gate in Madurai. The killing occurred while he was en route to a warehouse around 6 am.

A spectator informed the Anna Nagar Police. The police identified the victim and recovered his body, subsequently sending it to Rajaji Government Hospital for autopsy. A Madurai City police official said, “The BJP functionary was found dead near the Vandiyur toll gate with cut injuries. The police initially started an inquiry into the accidental angle but later found a cut in the body.”.

Police have started the murder investigation and initial findings suggest that the motive may be linked to a recent dispute Sakthivel had regarding the sale of a goods carrier vehicle.

The tragedy has shocked the community. Deep condolences and Heartfelt tribute is expressed in mourning by BJP colleagues. “Sakthivel was a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the OBC community,” said a senior BJP leader. “His loss will be deeply felt by us all.”
