Reflecting on those early days, Mittal shared, “We wouldn’t realize it as kids, but 20 of us were living in a 1,000-square foot house at the time. People were sleeping on the dining table, under the dining table. But as kids, you don’t think of that. You enjoy having so many kids around.”

After his father’s business flourished, Mittal pursued higher education in the United States, only to face arduous obstacles while seeking employment in the IT industry. Recalling his struggles, Mittal revealed, “I sent out 800 resumes…It was the first time I experienced hunger.”
Navigating through financial hardships, including days without food, Mittal’s resilience remained unshaken. “Experiencing hunger teaches you a lot,” he remarked. “There was a time when I didn’t eat for two to three days because I couldn’t eat. How long could friends help? They would’ve helped, but you also feel bad after a while… credit cards are maxed out, everything is finished.”
However, Mittal’s fortunes took a dramatic turn when he secured a position at MicroStrategy, where he swiftly ascended the ranks to become the director of strategic partnerships. With stock options fueling his ascent, Mittal found himself a multi-millionaire in his early twenties, experiencing a lifestyle beyond his wildest dreams. “It was crazy,” he reminisced. “I’d ordered a sports car, we used to party in stadiums, our corporate parties would be on cruise ships. It was next level.”
