Tamil actor Daniel Balaji, who was 48 years old, passed away on Friday night, March 29 due to a massive heart attack. Balaji was well known for his memorable roles as Amudhan in the film Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu and as Thambi in Vada Chennai. The talented actor, admired for his diverse acting abilities and captivating screen presence, was hospitalized in Chennai’s Kottivakam area after complaining of chest pain when he unfortunately passed away.

Who was Daniel Balaji? 

Daniel Balaji started his acting career on television by playing the character Daniel in the hugely popular Tamil daily soap opera Chithi. He then transitioned to films, making his debut in the 2002 Tamil romantic drama April Madhathil.

Over the years, Balaji has portrayed memorable roles in numerous movies, including playing the antagonist in Kamal Haasan’s crime thriller Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, the investigating officer in Suriya’s cop drama Kaakha Kaakha, the gangster Bhaskaran in Dhanush’s action film Vaada Chennai, and a police officer in Venkatesh’s Telugu action thriller Gharshana. While working across languages, Balaji has consistently delivered impactful performances in both lead and supporting parts.

Apart from being an actor, Balaji was said to be a devout man who was building a temple in Avadi.
