Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended a prayer gathering on Wednesday at the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial in Sriperumbudur before the much-anticipated “Bharat Jodo Yatra” began.

At his father’s memorial, Rahul Gandhi presented flowers. On May 21, 1991, while running for the Lok Sabha, his father Rajiv Gandhi was slain in a bombing in Sriperumbudur.

At the prayer gathering were local Congress leaders, including Karnataka state party chairman DK Shivakumar.

Rahul Gandhi departed from the prayer gathering for Kanyakumari, where Chief Minister MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu would give him the Tricolor. A gathering will be addressed by the Congress leader when the Bharat Jodo Yatra is formally launched.

In what is being hailed as the Congress’ “masterstroke” to challenge the Narendra Modi administration in the upcoming 2024 elections, the party today launched the “Bharat Jodo Yatra,” in which Rahul Gandhi will begin the 3,570-kilometer journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir that will last roughly 150 days.

Some important questions concerning Rahul Gandhi’s housing and floods surface as the party launches the countrywide yatra. The party has stated, however, that he would not stay in a hotel but will instead do the full route in a straightforward way.

In the container, Rahul Gandhi will remain for 150 days. Some of the containers also include AC, sleeping mattresses, and restrooms. There will be numerous different climate and environmental conditions along the way. The preparations were created with the new location’s extreme heat and humidity in mind.

As per sources “A hamlet has been established in Kanyakumari, where all of these containers have been installed, and about 60 of these containers have been prepared and delivered there. Every day, a new location in the shape of a hamlet will be chosen for the container to be parked for the night. Rahul Gandhi’s full-time yatris would eat together and socialise frequently.”

Sources further said that Rahul Gandhi views his participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra as an opportunity to engage with ordinary people.
