On the advice of Marhaura Sub-Divisional Police Officer Yogendra Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) Ritesh Mishra and Constable Vikesh Tiwari were suspended immediately following the Chhapra Hooch tragedy. Sunil Kumar, the excise minister for Bihar, “confirmed” on Wednesday that six persons had reportedly consumed fake alcohol in the Chhapra neighbourhood of the Saran district of Bihar before passing away. A minister from Bihar “promised” that the government would take “stern action” against those guilty of the fatalities.

When questioned whether the police had taken any action in this instance, Sunil Kumar stated that he had “confirmed the death of six persons so far.”
On Wednesday morning, Bihar Minister SK Mahaseth advised the state’s residents to stop drinking.
When speaking with the media, Mahaseth added, “It’s best if you stop drinking. Instead of alcohol, poison is arriving here. We might be able to handle it if we get stronger via exercise, but individuals will still need to get stronger. Give up now! It is illegal and being improperly promoted here “Mahaseth stated.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lost his composure in the state legislature after opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators criticised his administration over a number of fatalities linked to fake alcohol in the Chhapra region of Saran district.
As Leader of the Opposition Vijay Kumar Sinha questioned the state’s policies on the prohibition of alcohol since 2016, the head of Janata Dal-United criticised the BJP for denouncing the deaths.
In the House, Nitish Kumar lost his cool and yelled, “Sharabi ho gaye ho tum… (you’ve turned a drunkard)” at the BJP MLAs.
Later, opposition members from Bihar organised a protest outside the state legislature in response to the event.
