Biplab Deb resigns as Tripura CM, BJP likely to announce replacement today

Biplab Deb today stepped down as the Chief Minister of Tripura. The resignation comes a year ahead of the scheduled assembly elections in the state. Sources cited by ANI have informed that BJP leaders Bhupender Yadav and Vinod Tawde are in Tripura as the party’s central observers. The sources also suggest that the name of Deb’s replacement will likely be announced by today evening.

The sources said that the BJP wanted to go with a fresh face in the assembly polls and Biplab Dev would be engaged in organizational work.

Biplab Kumar Deb had taken oath as the first BJP Chief Minister of the state in 2018 ending the 25-year-rule of the Communist Party of India in Tripura.
