According to his brother Sunil Raut, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was taken into custody late on Sunday.
Sunil, the brother of Raut, claimed that Raut had been arrested and that he would appear in court on Monday.
“Sanjay Raut was taken into custody. He was detained because the BJP is terrified of him. They have not provided any documentation to us (regarding his arrest). He’s been set up. Tomorrow at 11.30 am, he will appear in court ” Sunil Raut said on Sunday.
Sources claim that ED agents earlier in the day confiscated Rs 11.50 lakhs in undeclared cash from Raut’s home.
After many hours of inspections at his Mumbai home, Raut was held by Enforcement Directorate agents on Sunday in connection with the Patra Chawl land fraud case; however, Sanjay Raut’s lawyer had earlier claimed that his client was neither detained nor arrested.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) called Sanjay Raut on June 28 in relation to the investigation into the Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land fraud and the prevention of money laundering.
