SC makes report confirming false encounter public in Disha case

The confrontation between the Hyderabad vet’s gang-rape and murder accused was “manufactured,” according to the investigative panel’s report, and the accused were “deliberately fired upon with an aim to cause their deaths.”

In its report, the Supreme Court-appointed investigative team probing the accused in the gang-rape and murder of a Hyderabad veterinarian concluded that the encounter was “manufactured.” The Hyderabad gang-rape and murder suspects were also “deliberately fired upon with the purpose to cause their death,” according to the report.

“In our considered opinion, the accused were deliberately fired upon with the purpose to cause their death and with the knowledge that the gunfire would invariably result in the death of the dead suspect,” the Sirpurkar panel report states.

The Supreme Court has urged the Telangana High Court to take action on the commission’s report after it was submitted.

At Shadnagar, a 26-year-old veterinarian was raped and burned alive on her way home from a clinic visit. Her body was discovered in a highway underpass.

Mohammed Arif, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chennakesavulu, the four accused, were slain in an alleged encounter in 2019. The Supreme Court created a three-member team to investigate the purported encounter.
