Nine newly elected members of Rajya Sabha to take oath on August 21

S Jaishankar submitted his candidacy papers for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections earlier in July in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar.

On August 21, at 11 a.m., nine newly and re-elected members of the Rajya Sabha, including S Jaishankar of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Derek O’ Brien of the Trinamool Congress, will take the oath. 

Dola Sen, Sukhendu Shekhar Ray, Derek O’ Brien, Prakash Chik Baraik, and Samirul Islam are representatives of the Trinamool Congress.
Nagendra Ray, Kesridevsinh Digvijaysinh Jhala, Babubhai Jesangbhai Desai, and S Jaishankar are all members of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
S Jaishankar submitted his candidacy papers for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections earlier in July in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar. When he was appointed to the Union Cabinet in 2019, Jaishankar was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.

The election for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Goa, Gujarat, and West Bengal was scheduled to take place on July 24. The Election Commission of India (ECI) had previously published the schedule.
