Prime Minister Narendra Modi today on March 11th, announced that DRDO scientists had successfully conducted the inaugural flight test of the domestically produced Agni-5 missile under Mission Divyastra. During the test, scientists evaluated the Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.

With the successful testing of Mission Divyastra, India joins an elite league of nations possessing MIRV capability. Noteworthy is the significant involvement of women, including the project director, showcasing their valuable contributions to the project.

The system boasts indigenous Avionics systems and high-precision sensor packages, ensuring that the re-entry vehicles reach their target points with exceptional accuracy. This milestone underscores India’s burgeoning technological prowess on the global stage.

Expressing pride in the achievements of DRDO scientists, PM Modi commended their efforts in achieving Mission Divyastra’s goals. He acknowledged the significance of the first flight test of the Agni-5 missile equipped with MIRV technology.

PM Narendra Modi tweets,  “Proud of our DRDO scientists for Mission Divyastra, the first flight test of indigenously developed Agni-5 missile with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.”

According to reports, the inclusion of MIRV technology ensures that the warhead can separate into multiple re-entry vehicles, enabling precise and targeted attacks.
