Security Tightened for Mukhtar Ansari's Last Rites in Ghazipur

In anticipation of the last rites of Mukhtar Ansari, a notorious figure in Uttar Pradesh’s political and criminal landscape, police have been deployed along the route from his residence to the graveyard in Mohammadabad, Ghazipur district. Ansari’s funeral proceedings are expected to take place today, with heightened security measures in place to maintain law and order.

District Magistrate Aryaka Akhoury of Ghazipur confirmed the police deployment and stated that preparations for the last rites are complete. The 600-meter route leading to the graveyard has been secured, with authorities closely monitoring the movement of people to ensure a peaceful conclusion to the proceedings.

“The preparations are complete. Police have been deployed on a 600-metre route leading from his home to the graveyard. The movement of the people is being watched. The last rites would be concluded peacefully,” mentioned DM Akhoury.

Scheduled for 10 am, the funeral will be attended by family members, close relatives, and individuals specified on the list. Traditional rituals, including the symbolic act of throwing soil at the funeral, will be observed as a mark of respect and farewell.

Mukhtar Ansari’s demise occurred in a Banda hospital on Thursday, with his family alleging foul play, claiming he was poisoned. Following postmortem procedures, Ansari’s body was brought to his residence in Ghazipur under tight police security.

The circumstances surrounding Ansari’s death have raised questions, leading to a judicial probe initiated by a three-member team. The investigation, including a thorough post-mortem examination videographed by a panel of two doctors, aims to shed light on the events leading to his passing.

Mukhtar Ansari’s controversial legacy includes convictions for various crimes, including the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai and the use of forged documents to obtain an arms license. His demise marks the end of a tumultuous chapter in Uttar Pradesh’s political and legal landscape.
