The leader of the Tamil Nadu BJP, Annamalai, criticised the placement of a CCTV camera on the face of a deity in a temple in Tiruvannamalai. At the Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu’s Arunachaleshwara temple, a camera was trained on a sculpture’s face.
Annamalai said that the ruling DMK had no respect for agamas in a sharply worded remark. “Due to atheists running the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, a camera wasn’t fastened to the face of a god. Anyone with a rational mind wouldn’t do this. The DMK has organised this move because they want to appease the minority by making life difficult for the majority. Who will be held accountable for this act of vandalism? Anamalai enquired.
He continued by saying that the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department is rife with corruption. “Ancient jewellery and godly decorations are being melted down and made into gold bars, which is allowing for corruption. The DMK consistently disregards spiritual convictions. Both the people and the gods will not pardon it. It is unacceptable that the five-year training programme for temple priests has been cut to one year, he remarked.
The BJP state head asserted that the DMK is attempting to force its ideology on traditions and spiritual mutts, adding that it is the duty of the government to uphold agama regulations even if they are atheists.
