BCCI announce Annual Player Contracts for Team India

The BCCI listed R Ashwin, Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya in the Grade A category as per the annual contract.

The annual player retainership 2023–24 for Team India – Senior Men was announced on February 28 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja were included in the Grade A+ category. Each of them is probably paid ₹7 crore a year.

The terms of Team India’s annual player contracts are set to run from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024.

The BCCI listed R Ashwin, Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya in the Grade A category as per the annual contract. Players in this category typically receive up to ₹5 crore per year.

However, five athletes have been added to the Grade B category: Surya Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. They might receive yearly compensation of up to ₹3 crore apiece.

In Grade C, the BCCI selected fifteen players. KS Bharat, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, and Jitesh Sharma are among them. Each player will receive an annual salary of up to ₹1 crore.

In addition, athletes who fulfill the requirement of participating in a minimum of three Tests, eight ODIs, or ten Twenty20 Internationals during the allotted time will be automatically added to Grade C on a pro rata basis. Should Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan play in the Dharamsala Test Match, they will be inducted into Grade C.

In the meantime, this round of recommendations did not take Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan into consideration for the annual contracts.

Nevertheless, the athletes Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal, and Vidwath Kaverappa have also been recommended for Fast Bowling contracts by the Selection Committee.

In a statement, the BCCI stated that it is recommended of all athletes that when they are not representing their country, they prioritize playing domestic cricket.
