EAM Jaishankar Holds Bilateral Meet with Australian Intelligence chief Andrew Sheareron at Raisina Dialogue 2024

On the sidelines of the prestigious Raisina Dialogue 2024, India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged in a series of significant bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts, reinforcing diplomatic ties and exploring avenues for collaboration.

One of the notable encounters was with Australia’s Director-General of the Office of National Intelligence (ONI), Andrew Shearer. Jaishankar expressed his pleasure at meeting Shearer, highlighting their fruitful discussions and the importance of continued dialogue between the two nations.

Earlier, Jaishankar held talks with the Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic, Romania, and Bhutan, showcasing India’s commitment to strengthening relationships with its global partners.

During his meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky, both leaders reviewed the progress achieved since Czech Prime Minister Pete Fiala’s recent visit to India, and identified new areas of cooperation, reflecting the growing bilateral ties.

In a similar vein, Jaishankar welcomed Luminita Odobes1, the Foreign Minister of Romania, on her maiden visit to the Raisina Dialogue. He commended her enthusiasm for enhancing India-Romania collaboration and pledged reciprocal efforts to deepen bilateral relations.

Further underscoring India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy, Jaishankar greeted Bhutan’s Foreign Minister D. N. Dhungyel on his inaugural visit to India post-assuming office. Their discussions emphasized the importance of the unique partnership between the two nations, aligning with the spirit of the Raisina Dialogue.

The Raisina Dialogue, jointly organized by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation, serves as a platform for addressing pressing global issues in geopolitics and geoeconomics. This year’s event, graced by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as the chief guest and keynote speaker, underscores India’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and addressing shared challenges on the global stage.
