PM Narendra Modi Unveils Bharat Tex 2024, Highlighting India’s Textile Legacy

At Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the opening of Bharat Tex 2024, one of the biggest international textile events to be held in India. This event is a major step towards showcasing India’s rich textile history and encouraging industry collaboration. Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized during the inauguration the amazing progress Bharat Mandapam has made in just seven months since its founding. He stressed that in order to meet the growing demand, the infrastructure must be expanded, and he proposed that Phase 2 be started at both Bharat Mandapam and Yasho Bhoomi.

Minister Goyal said, “It has been only 7 months since this Bharat Mandapam was inaugurated by PM Modi on 26th July 2023 and in just seven months, this place and YashoBhoomi have started falling short of space. Now, we need to start Phase 2 at both locations as early as possible which you can inaugurate in your third term.”
Speaking at the inauguration Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Today, India is one of the largest producers of cotton, jute and silk in the world. Lakhs of farmers are engaged in this work. Today the government is supporting lakhs of cotton farmers, purchasing lakhs of quintals of cotton from them. The Kasturi Cotton launched by the government is going to be a big step towards creating India’s own identity…”

The iconic handloom and handicraft traditions of several states—Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh—are showcased on Bharat Tex 2024. The fact that Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have been named the event’s “Partner States” highlights their important contributions to the textile industry in India. Gujarat, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh have also joined as “Supporting Partner States,” which adds even more variety to the event’s textile offerings. State pavilions from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Assam are also on display at the premier global textile event, showcasing the diverse textile ecosystems found throughout India.

Key players in the textile industry, such as producers, designers, artisans, and legislators, come together for Bharat Tex 2024 to discuss ways to foster innovation, cooperation, and long-term growth. Participants will engage in discussions on market dynamics, emerging trends, and policy interventions to advance the sector through exhibitions, seminars, and interactive sessions. The occasion highlights India’s status as a global leader in the textile and apparel industries in addition to celebrating the nation’s rich textile legacy.

India’s artistry, ingenuity, and craftsmanship can be seen on a global scale thanks to Bharat Tex 2024’s extensive collection of traditional and modern textiles. The unfolding of Bharat Tex 2024 presents an opportunity to stimulate investments, partnerships, and collaborations that will drive the textile industry in India to unprecedented levels of sustainability and success.
