Even in the midst of Pakistan’s terrible floods, young children, especially girls, are being abducted, raped, and sexually assaulted, according to media reports.
According to media reports, a girl in Sindh province was abducted, confined to a room, and gang-raped for days. The crime came to light after the video went popular on social media, prompting authorities to look for the perpetrators.
According to accounts, a 10-year-old girl was similarly raped and killed, and her brutalised body was left floating in a private swimming pool in Lahore.
Another eight-year-old girl was savagely gang-raped on August 29 in Sindh’s Umarkot district, and her eyes were gouged out as a result.
According to government data, more than ten children in Pakistan are victims of terrible child abuse every day, according to The Singapore Post. The percentage is at least 30% higher than in 2020, indicating the state’s inability to safeguard youngsters from predators. About 54% of the victims were female, while 46% were male.
According to media reports, there has been a substantial increase in the number of child sexual assault cases in Pakistan, with residents flocking to the streets to protest the police and political parties’ lack of urgency.
Child rights organisations have expressed worry about the growth in these crimes, which they believe is being driven by the emergence of ‘dark web’ gangs dealing in human trafficking and pornography. According to the news, senior police and Meta (Facebook) officials recently revealed that over two million pornographic photographs of youngsters were posted in Pakistan in 2021.
According to data collected by the NGO Sahil, the majority of cases appear in the Punjab province’s Kasur district, with 298 cases reported in 2021.
Kasur has made headlines for his involvement in a massive child pornography ring as well as the brutal rape and murder of young Zainab. Kasur is followed by Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which have 292 and 247 cases, respectively, indicating the presence of a trafficking ring.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has been devastated by unprecedented rainfall and flooding. The country has lost nearly 1,300 people as a result of the devastating floods. At least 1,468,019 houses have been partially or completely destroyed, and 736,459 livestock have been killed as a result of the floods.
