Social media users said that 60% of flights in China were cancelled on Friday amid rumours that Chinese President Xi Jinping was placed under house arrest. However, the Chinese government has not provided any justification in this respect. The Chinese Army General Li Qiaoming is allegedly the next president, according to social media.

Additionally, it was said in the reports that Beijing had cancelled more than 6,000 domestic and foreign flights. The sources also said that the high-speed rail has totally ceased operations until further notice and that all ticket sales have been suspended.

The Chinese President recently attended the 22nd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was convened this time in Uzbekistan after a two-year break caused by the spreading Covid-19 epidemic. Strangely, Xi Jinping kept a modest profile while being a founding member of the prominent organisation of eight nations. He was there at the summit, without a doubt, but he avoided having bilateral meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It is reasonable to say that he attended the SCO meeting, although he did not actively participate in the summit and departed quite quickly.

According to rumours, Xi did not even wait for the SCO meeting to be formally over before he departed for China, maybe out of concern for anything going on there.

The Chinese President was detained at the airport upon his arrival and is reportedly presently being held under house arrest in Zhongnanhai’s residence.

The removal of Xi Jinping, if it has occurred, may turn out to be the biggest news coming out of that country since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in 2019. Domestic and international flights into and out of China have been suspended temporarily, there is a hold on ticket sales, and the CCP is monitoring traffic in and out of China.
