Antara, the late comedian Raju Srivastav’s daughter, sent a heartfelt email to Amitabh Bachchan thanking him for his support in her father’s final days.

Antara on Tuesday posted two images on Raju’s Instagram account: the first was a vintage photo of the comedian and Amitabh, and the second was a Big B’s letter.

The extended note states: “We are really grateful to Shri @amitabhbachchan uncle for supporting us every day during this difficult period. We will always be grateful for the strength and help that your prayers gave us. You are my father’s hero, source of love, inspiration, and Guru. You’ve been inside of dad ever since he first saw you on the big screen. He followed you both on and off the screen.”

The megastar recently disclosed on his blog that he was asked to send a voice message to the late comedian to wake him up when he was receiving treatment at the AIIMS since Srivastav was an avid admirer of Bachchan and used to imitate him. He left off the comedian’s name from the blog, though.

“Another colleague friend and creative artist leaves us .. a sudden ailment and gone before time .. before his creativity time completion .. each day in the morning with him in spirit and information from near ones ..they got advised to send a voice to awaken his condition .. i did .. they played it for him in his state in his ears .. on one instance he did open his eye a bit .. and then .. went away ..his sense of timing and the colloquial humour of his birth shall remain with us .. it was unique, open frank and filled with humour .. he smiles from the Heavens now and will be the reason for mirth with the God’s,” Bachchan wrote.

On Wednesday, 58-year-old Srivastav passed away. Since being hospitalised to the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 10 as a result of a heart attack, he has been kept alive by life support.

The comedian, who had been working in the entertainment business since the 1980s, became well-known in 2005 after taking part in the inaugural season of the reality stand-up comedy series “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.”

Srivastav stated during one of the interviews, “When I saw Amitabh Bachchan’s comedy Deewar, I developed a love for imitation and humour. I grew to love him so much that I used to buy his posters and hang them in my home. I started copying his hairdo. I used to be referred to as Big B.”
