As nationwide protests and candlelight vigils continue in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, reports emerged of gunfire from Pakistani posts along the Line of Control.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong statement, pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice. “India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and those who support them,” he said. “We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth.”
In response to the attack, the Indian government has implemented a series of measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee with senior military leaders, including Army Chief General Asim Munir. He cautioned that any attempt by India to halt the Indus River’s flow would be considered an “act of war.”
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is also expected to arrive in Srinagar today to assess the evolving security situation.
