AIIMS taking measures to restore digital services

Server for National Informatics Centre’s eHospital, which is utilized by AIIMS, New Delhi, went down today

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Wednesday said that it is restoring digital services and is requesting assistance from Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Earlier on Wednesday, AIIMS had already reported a server problem. The system has been unavailable since 7 a.m. today, and administrators have been manually handling the OPD and sample collection.

According to the data provided by AIIMS Delhi, “Server for National Informatics Centre’s eHospital, which is utilized by AIIMS, New Delhi, went down today, affecting outpatient and inpatient digital hospital services such as smart lab, billing, report production, appointment system, and so on. All of these services are now in manual mode.”

In the statement issued by AIIMS, it said “National Informatics Centre (NIC) team at AIIMS has advised that the purported malware incident would be examined by competent law enforcement agencies. Measures are being made to restore digital services, and assistance from Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and National Informatics Centre (NIC) is being sought.”

“AIIMS and NIC will take appropriate precautions to avoid such attacks in future. As of 7:30 p.m., hospital services were in manual mode” according to the statement.

“The outpatient department (OPD) and sample collection have been managed manually by staff. On the other hand, those who do not have a Unique Health Identification Number have difficulties in this respect. The administration is also having issues with patient admission and release “said the statement.
